SNOMED CT Compositional Grammar support in termSpace

June 4, 2015 - 1 minute read

SNOMED CT Compositional Grammar is defined in the IHTSDO Specification as:

“A formal compositional grammar which is used to represent SNOMED CT expressions. SNOMED CT expressions are a structured combination of one or more concept identifiers used to express a clinical idea”

This first use of the SCT Grammar in termSpace involves obtaining concept representations for pre-coordinated content, SNOMED CT content modeled in termSpace.

In the details of the concept, there is a new “Expressions” tab that displays three possible expression that can be created based on a pre-coordinated concept:

  • Pre-coordinated expression: It’s a reference to a pre-coordinated concept, only the SCTID and the FSN are included.
  • Stated concept definition expression: It’s an expression that displays the concept definition created from the stated relationships of the concept.
  • Inferred concept definition expression: It’s an expression that displays the concept definition created from the inferred relationships of the concept.

Clicking on the “Smart Copy” icon will put the selected expression in your clipboard.
